Marrow for Life Awareness Drive - Spring 2003
In Wilmington, North Carolina, Mia and her Washington Freedom teammates helped kick off The Cape Fear Youth Soccer Association's First Annual "Marrow for Life" Awareness Drive. During the spring soccer season the CFYSA used this drive to raise funds to support marrow donor programs and raised awareness about the need for donation of marrow to save lives. All their hard work culminated in a successful Marrow Registry Drive on April 26th at Alleigh's Restaurant. The Mia Hamm Foundation was proud to be a co-sponsor of this important effort, along with the Rick Hendrick Marrow Program, and in conjunction with the American Red Cross.
A Wish Comes True
The Make-A-Wish Foundation, the U.S. Soccer Foundation and the Mia Hamm Foundation joined forces in an effort to fulfill an important child's request. 15-year-old Victoria from Laguna Beach, CA, was able to meet Mia and the entire U.S. National team in San Diego in 2002.
